- Open a new ArcGIS Pro project
- Set Tags, Summary, and Description for the map
- Right Click on “Map” in the Contents pane
- Metadata
- Provide information for the Tags, Summary, and Description boxes
- Click OK
- Make sure the map coordinate system is set to the desired State Plane coordinate system
- Consult https://geodesy.noaa.gov/SPCS/maps.shtml for US State Plane Coordinate Systems
- Right click on “Map” in the “Contents” pane
- Properties
- Coordinate Systems
- Search for your desired State Plane Zone
- Make sure it is a NAD 1983 (2011) system
- Click OK
- Search arcgis online for USA State Plane Zones layer
- https://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=9e1a1714b2804858b49a4c19ab8a447c
- Download the layer
- Save in a place you can easily find
- Pull USA State Plane Zones layer into ArcGIS Pro
- Add Data
- Browse
- Navigate to where you saved the USA State Plane Zones layer
- Click OK
- Select or definition query your desired Zone
- Export your selected/queried Zone into a new layer
- Right click on State Plane Zones NAD 1983
- Data
- Export Features
- Under “Output Feature Class”, choose a name and where you want to save the new feature class
- Click OK
- Project your new layer into the proper State Plane coordinate system
- Click on the “Analysis” tab at the top of the screen
- Click on the Red Toolbox
- This will open the Geoprocessing pane
- Search for the ”Project” tool
- Click on “Project (Data Management Tools)”
- Input Dataset or Feature Class: the exported State Plane zone you just created
- Output Dataset or Feature Class: name and choose where you want to save the newly projected State Plane zone
- Output Coordinate System: Current Map [Map]
- This will set the new layer’s coordinate system to the same system as the map
- We set the map coordinate system to the desired State Plane coordinate system earlier
- Geographic Transformation: this will populate automatically
- Preserve Shape: Unchecked
- Click Run
- The newly projected layer will appear in your map and Contents pane
- Use the Create Vector Tile Package tool
- Click on the Back Arrow in the Geoprocessing pane
- Search for ”Create Vector Tile Package” in the Geoprocessing pane
- Click on “Create Vector Tile Package (Data Management Tools)”
- Input Map: Map
- Output File: name and choose where you want to save the new tile package file
- Package for ArGIS Online | Bing Maps | Google Maps: Unchecked
- Tiling Scheme: the tiling scheme will be created automatically when you uncheck the above box
- Tiling Format: Indexed
- Minimum Cached Scale: Default
- Maximum Cached Scale: Default
- Index Polygons: None
- Summary: Include a summary of the file and its uses
- Tags: Include whatever tags you want to help find this file later
- Click Run
- Your new Vector Tile Package should be saved in the location you specified in Output File
- Save your ArcGIS Pro project
- Upload created tile package to ArcGIS Online
- Open a web browser and navigate to ArcGIS Online
- Sign in to your organization’s ArcGIS Online account
- Click on the “Content” tab at the top of the screen
- Click on the “New Item” button near the top left of the screen, under the “Content” banner
- Click on the “Your Device” button
- Navigate to where you saved the Vector Tile Package you created in the previous step
- Click on the Vector Tile Package File, and click Open
- Select the “Add file and create a hosted tile layer” option and click Next
- Provide a Title, select a Folder, add Categories, Tags, a Summary, and click Save
- Create new Web Map
- Click on the “Map” tab at the top of the screen
- Remove any layers that may already be in the web map
- Set created tile package as Basemap of created web map
- Click on the “Basemap” icon on the left side of the screen
- Click on the “Current basemap” button near the top left of the screen
- Click on the “Add” button
- Find the Tile Layer you uploaded in the previous step
- Click on the Tile Layer
- DO NOT click on the “Add” button on the Tile Layer
- In the popup menu, click on the “Use as basemap” button at the bottom of the menu
- Click on the Back arrow at the top of the “Add layer” menu
- You will now see your Tile Layer in the “Base” section of the Basemap menu
- Save the web map
- Click on the “Save and open” icon on the left side of the screen
- Click “Save As”
- Fill in the required information and click “Save”
- Add imagery layer as a normal layer in the web map
- Click on the “Layers” icon on the left side of the screen
- Click on the “My Content” button
- Click on “Living Atlas”
- Search for “World Imagery”
- Click the “Add” button
- NOTE: The imagery layer will take some time to load
- Save the web map
- Open web map in Field Maps
- Collect points in the State Plane coordinate system
