You will need:
- An ArcGIS Online Account
- Field Maps mobile application
- Eos Tools Pro mobile application
- Eos Arrow
Create Web Layers
1. Log in to your ArcGIS Online account
2. Click on the “Content” tab
3. Click on the “New item” button in the top left corner
4. Click on the “Feature layer” button
5. Make sure “Define your own layer” is selected
- Click “Next”
6. Fill out the layer details
- Name the layer
- Choose the layer type
- If needed, click on the “+Add” button to add more layers
- Repeat the previous steps as needed for more layers
- Turn on “Add GPS metadata fields”
- This allows the Web Layers to record useful metadata from the GPS unit
- Turn on “Enable Z-values”
- Click “Next” when ready
7. Fill out ArcGIS Online item details
- Title the item
- Choose where to save the item
- Add any desired tags
- Add a summary description
- Click “Save”
Create the Web Map
1. Navigate to the “Content” tab
- Find the layer(s) you just created
2. Click on the new layer
3. Click on “Open in map viewer” in the top right corner
4. Add additional layers
- Click on the “+” in the top left corner
- Click “Browse Layers”
- Add the desired layers
5. Click on the “Save and open” button in the left-hand ribbon
- Click “Save as”
- Add map title
- Choose where to save the map
- Add any desired tags
- Add a summary description of the map
- Click “Save”
Share the Web Map and Web Layers (if needed)
1. If this map and these layers are going to be used by somebody that does not have login credentials for the ArcGIS Online account that created them, you will need to share the map and layers
2. Navigate back to the “Content” page
3. Select the items you wish to share
- Click the check boxes to the left of the items
- You will need to share the Web Map you just created, as well as any Web Layers that are used in the Web Map
4. Click on the “Share” button located at the top of the list of items in the “Content” page
- The “Share” button will only appear after you have selected at least one item from your content list
5. Choose the level of sharing you want to apply to the selected items
6. Click “Save”
Set Up ArcGIS Field Maps
1. Open the ArcGIS Field Maps mobile application
2. Log in to your ArcGIS Online account
3. Update the Collection Settings
- Tap on the Settings Icon in the top corner
- Set “Offset” to “Eos Tools Pro”
- Set “Provider” to “Eos Positioning Systems”
- Make sure your Eos Arrow is turned on and connected to your ArcGIS Field Maps mobile device
- Verify that the Eos Arrow connection displayed in the ArcGIS Field Maps settings has the same serial number as the Arrow that you will be using for data collection
- The Arrow serial number can be found on the back of the Arrow device
- Set your “Location profile”
- If you are using RTK, select your RTK profile
- To set up your RTK profile, see "RTK Location Profile in Field Maps"

- If you are not using RTK, select “Default”
- If you are using RTK, select your RTK profile
- Select “Troubleshooting”
- Turn on "Logging"
- This will assist in debugging, if any issues arise
- Return to the main page
4. Select the Web Map in which you want to capture data
- If your ArcGIS Online account created the Web Map, it will appear in a list under “My maps”
- If the Web Map has been shared with you, you will have to search for it
- Tap the search icon in the top of the screen and type in the title of the Web Map
- Tap the desired Web Map
Collect Data
1. Now go collect your data using Field Maps!
